ACCOMMODATION ARRANGEMENT FEE
We collaborate with a wide network of trusted accommodation providers across Japan to offer personalized housing options. Rather than operating on a commission-based model, we charge a simple one-time placement fee. For Hokkaido & Fukuoka: ¥15,000
Terms & Conditions
Due to popularity and limited housing spots, all our housing partners work on a strict “first come, first serve” policy, meaning spots cannot be held. Your accommodation is only guaranteed once fully paid, not before!
Stay extensions might not be available during peak sessions. Please let us know in advance if your plans change.
Reserved housing spots and stay durations can be freely changed before payment is settled. Here is a full list of additional fees and conditions that may apply.
In case of cancellation, full refunds will be given for requests filed more than four weeks before the course starts. No refund will be given for terms that were already scheduled. Please have a look at our Terms & Conditions for a detailed breakdown.
Accommodation FAQs
Can I choose the location of my accommodation?
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer location choices. Accommodation will be assigned based on availability at the time of your study, ensuring you have a comfortable and convenient place to stay.
When will I receive the address and exact information about my stay?
Your accommodation is guaranteed; however, our housing partners can only provide the final details about two weeks before your move-in date. Due to the dynamic nature of availability and new openings, there may be sudden opportunities for better accommodation options that we will allocate to you.
How far are the accommodations from the school?
The distance can vary depending on the accommodation type. While apartments tend to be closer to the school, Host Families and Sharehouses can be farther away to meet other requirements, e.g., suitable host family, safe environment, affordable rental prices, etc.
What happens if I want to move out early or extend my stay?
You may move out early, but no refunds will be issued as our accommodation providers are prepaid. For long-term stays, refunds may apply based on notice timing. Extensions are subject to availability. Please review our Terms & Conditions or contact us for details.
Can I pay for my accommodation in installments?
All accommodation fees must be paid upfront to secure the discounted price and reservation. For long-term stays (7 months or more), installment payments are available.
Why are Meiji Academy’s accommodations cheaper than booking directly with other real estate companies?
We have negotiated long-term partnerships with trustworthy accommodation providers nationwide to ensure our students can benefit from affordable prices.
Are there any hidden fees for accommodation?
In short, no. However, additional charges will apply if you excessively use utilities, break items, and leave the accommodation in a dirty condition.
What should I do if I want to change my accommodation after booking?
Generally, accommodations cannot be changed once booked. If availability allows, a change may be possible, but additional charges will apply and no refunds will be issued. We do not recommend this option.
Can I host guests in my accommodation?
Accommodations are priced and designed for single occupancy only, so hosting guests is not permitted. However, sometimes our housing companies have apartments for two students available. Prices may vary depending on location and availability.
Do I need to bring my bedsheets and towels?
Bedsheets are provided, but towels are not, for hygiene reasons. You can easily purchase affordable towels and toiletries at Japan’s popular 100-Yen Shops. If you need suggestions on where locals shop, just give us a shout and we’ll be happy to help :)
Are there any house rules I should be aware of?
Yes, we will provide all the necessary information to ensure a smooth transition into Japanese society. While things may be a bit different, Japanese people are considerate and always ready to help, so there’s no need to worry.
I found a place on my own! Can the school act as my representative for external accommodation bookings?
No, we cannot serve as a guarantor or provide our contact details for independently booked housing. This service is only available for accommodations arranged through us to ensure reliability and support.
