Sharehouse FAQs

Are utilities included in the rent?

Yes, all utilities are included and washing machines can be used free of charge.

Do I need to bring my bedsheets and towels?

Fresh bedsheets are provided, but you must bring or buy your towels and toiletries.

Is there a curfew?

No, but please be considerate not to disturb other residents when arriving late at night.

Can I invite guests? Can they stay over?

Yes, daytime guests are allowed, but overnight stays are strictly prohibited. If you fail to comply with the provider's policy, the landlord will impose additional fees or, in the worst case, cancel your accommodation without any refund.

Can I share my accommodation with another friend?

No, rooms are meant for single occupancy only. However, if spaces are available, we can arrange for two bedrooms in the same residence.

Can I choose my roommates? For instance, can you assure me that during my stay, other female or Japanese roommates will be present?

No, this is logistically impossible, since all our external providers try to match residents based on location, availability, and compatibility.

Are there additional security measures in place for female sharehouses?

Yes, female sharehouses have secure entry systems, lockable rooms, and often on-site management or staff to ensure safety.

Do you provide safe boxes for valuables?

No, but each room has a lockable door for security. While our sharehouses and student dorms are safe, we cannot be held responsible for any missing or damaged items.

Can LGBTQ students who identify themselves as SGM (Sexual & Gender Minorities), e.g. Transgender Women, stay at a female sharehouse?

No, this is not possible. Accommodation policies in Japan are determined by providers and local laws. Most female sharehouses accept only those assigned female at birth (sex chromosome XX). While we support LGBTQ rights, we must adhere to these regulations. If you have specific concerns or accommodation needs, we encourage you to reach out to us so we can explore the best available options for you.
